Dress up party

LI: To write a detailed description
SC:  it must include strong adjectives, similes and onomatopoeia

On Saturday it was my cousins birthday, and it was a dress up party.I went dressed as Pocahontas.  His name was Noah. When it started his Samoan Grandpa did a prayer and he blew out the candles for his cake. Then we went to serve our food. The food smelled nice and tasted delicious, while we were still eating people came around starting handing out Otai. The Otai was made from pineapple juice milk and fruit salad it was so refreshing because it was such a hot day. Then as we were called out for the lolly scramble I collected all the party poppers and popped all at once and made a loud Bang! When they were throwing out the lollies it was like i was going on a treasure hunt looking for the lollies. Then we packed up and went home.

Basketball Lesson with Coach Bruce

Yesterday a very special man came to Glenbrae school to teach us how to play basketball. His name was Coach Bruce, he was also from New York. He had got a degree for free while he was in college. He had also played in 15 different countries around the world.
We learnt how to dribble the ball, wrap the ball around your body and do figure 8's.
Learning how to do the figure 8's was hard, but as I got used to it I could do it. To do the figure 8's we had to hold the ball tight and circles around our legs.

We had a great Basketball lesson with Coach Bruce.

The Auckland War Memorial Museum

The Auckland War Memorial Museum is a great place for people to see and visit. It also helps people learn more about their culture and what has happened in the past. It also has  all sorts of things one hasn’t learnt about, seen and known. The Auckland War Memorial Museum is a good experience for everyone.

The Auckland Museum is located on a hilltop in the Auckland Domain and it overlooks the Auckland Harbour. It is surrounded by a huge park which can be used for picnics and family gatherings.

There  is a gallery filled with Maori treasures and other Pacific items.  The Museum has a lot of memorial items on display as well. It has got records of events that took place in the past.  One would find artifacts and old things from other countries all around the world.

There are 3 parts to to the museum, and there are over 30 displays.
The  displays are full of Maori artifacts and Pacific arts.
On the third floor all the walls are listed with names of the people who  died in the war.

Our Safety Talk with Constable Julie

Today Constable Julie came into our class  to tell us about road safety. We did an activity on the courts. The activity was all about distance. Its was difficult to measure distances accurately because I didn't have a big enough ruler. Constable Julie helped all of us guess the correct distance. I really enjoyed it when Constable Julie  taught us about driver, vehicle and environmental safety. I learnt that the driver of the vehicle has to have his/her drivers license on them when ever they drive. I also learnt that the vehicle has to have a registration, and a W.O.F (warrant of fitness).

Sport activities at Tamaki College

On Wednesday 2nd May 2012 the years 4,5,6 and 7 had the opportunity  to go to Tamaki College. Us students did sport activites with the year 12 students at Tamaki College. My group played a game called electric fence. It was just like high jump but we weren't allowed to touch the bar. When they raised the bar higher the game got harder, so my group and I my decided to stack two chairs so we can get to the other side. I had a fun playing these games and I had a great experience.

The cold morning

Early this morning I woke up feeling really cold, it was like I was sleeping outside. I tried to stay in bed but it was 8:30 so I was in a rush. When I went in the kitchen the windows were open really wide and I didn’t bother to close them because I was making my lunch. When I was on my way to school, it was raining as hard as running into a brick wall.

When I got to school I was freezing. When I went into class the windows were open and so was the door. Then I went to play outside with my friends we played tag. After playing tag the bell rang and we went to class. When I got into class my teacher called the register. Then we did our diary entry.

Morning start

Today when i got to school it was raining. We went to assembly and it was still raining. After the assembly finished my class went swimming. When I got into the pool I was so cold, my legs were so numb I couldn't feel anything. Some people in my class didn't want to hop in the pool because it was as cold as a sitting in a freezer for 5 years. Then we finished swimming and started our maths work in class. I've had a wonderful morning so far

Swimming Lessons

Ever since swimming at Glenbrae started this year, some talented swimming instructors have been coming to our school to help us students from year 3s to year 7 swim. Over the past weeks we have been learning some wonderful swimming skills like practicing the free style and stream lines. We have to make sure our chins are touching our chest so we are looking at the bottom of the pool and we have to keep your feet kicking in the flowy water.

We learn how to swim so we can keep safe in the water at all times.

Celery surprise reflection

Reflection
The celery vessels have sucked in the liquid and made it blue. The celery had lots of blue spots. When it came out it smelt a little bit. You can also use flowers for this experiment.
